Nola Rae e il potere dell’immaginazione in “Elisabetta”

On the stage of Theatre Rifredi of Florence is back Nola Rae, the incredible mime who last year received the prestigious MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his contribution to comedy and mime, no less than by the hands of the sovereign 's England, Elizabeth II. And it is the most illustrious ancestor of the Queen, who inspired this hilarious monologue. And in particular by a significant episode in his life. It is said that Queen Elizabeth I of England, Queen indomitable and tenacious, 70 years old, stood for 15 hours for fear that, once seated, would not be able to get up.

In principle, however, there is no scene from Elizabeth, Betty is just a middle-aged lady, certainly funny and nice, but totally distraught, that has little to do with the beautiful and sumptuous Elizabeth of the title. Betty enters from the audience, makes up an entire row that has to go, and distributes items that evoke laughter, then slowly drag on stage and draws us into her lonely life in an anonymous studio also quite worn and dusty. Perhaps because he lived too long alone, but when everything seems to leave no room for hope, the dream starts here that Betty and inflates the suit, turn up the collar, pull on the neck, long, straight, in a majestic location moving with gifts. But those who think he is? A queen? Was yes, behind the doors of his studio became Elizabeth I of England, the Virgin Queen. Betty finds himself having to struggle within his own personal kingdom for a court to impose its power on the teapot, toaster ...

With incredible lightness Nola Rae manages to weave dreams and emotions, giving a little 'more than one' hours of healthy, enjoyable, pleasant madness. His unique style blends mime, comedy, wit and touches the viewer at all levels with an ease that seems impossible when you consider that it does so without saying a word. It 'a show movingly about loneliness and the power of imagination, fun, touching and sad at the same time, telling us that we must never stop hoping and dreaming, because dreams can make even a luxurious and regal reality sad and lonely.
Nola Rae is perfect gestures, expressions, simple and never forced, and because of this true. He manages to keep the scene alone and without speaking for an hour, and this in itself is extraordinary.
